Creating a New Monitor Group

To create a new monitor group:

  1. Click Groups Manager on the Reveille Admin console toolbar. The Groups Manager window appears.
  2. In the Groups Manager toolbar, click New. The Group Properties window appears.
  3. Enter the following:
  • Name. You cannot modify the Name after you save your settings.
  • Description. Describe this group. Your entry will be displayed in the Description column of the Groups Manager window.
  • Type. Enter a valid group type for your Group hierarchy, such as Choose either Level1, Level2, Level3, State, or Region as examples.

    Your selection must be a higher level and different from that of Contains Group Type. For example, if you set this group’s Type to Level 2, the valid Contains Group Type options are Level 3, State, or Region. You cannot choose Level 1 or Level 2.

  • Contains. Choose whether this group will contain Monitors or other Groups.
  • Contains Group Type. The type of group that this group will contain, such as either Level1, Level2, Level3, State, or Region as examples

    The value you select must be different from that of the Type value and of a lower level---for example, if you define this group to be a Level 3 Type, then it cannot contain groups that are a Level 1 type.

    The Contains Group Type field is not applicable if the preceding Contains field is set to “Monitors.”

  1. Click OK to save your changes.

After creating a group, you are ready to assign members to that group. See Assigning Members to a Group for more information.
