Configuring General Proactive Action Information
The General tab on the Proactive Properties dialog enables you to configure general Proactive Action information.

Configuring General Proactive Action Information
To configure general Proactive Action information, follow these steps:
- From the Left Navigational Pane, expand the Monitor tree to see its Resources.
- Select the Resource. The Resource configuration options are displayed on the Right Configuration Pane.
- Select the Errors tab.
- Under Proactive Actions for selected Error, click Add. The Proactive Properties dialog appears with the General tab selected.
- Complete the following under the General tab:

(Read-Only) Specifies the name of the Resource associated with the Proactive Action. |

Proactive Action is associated with either a Web page (HTTP) or Command File. |

Specify the number of seconds the error must persist before Proactive takes action. |

(Available if Type selected is HTTP) Specify the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the Web page for this Proactive Action. |
URL Wizard |
(Link - Available if Type selected is HTTP) Click to open the Proactive Wizard. The URL field is populated with the address generated by the wizard. See Adding a URL Using the Proactive Wizard for more information. |
Post Data |
(Available if Type selected is HTTP) Enter any form of data the Web server may be expecting. |
Command File |
(Available if Type selected is Command File) Specify the name of the command or executable file to execute. |
Browse |
(Link - Available if Type selected is Command File) Click to locate a Command or Executable file on your computer or network. |

Adding a URL Using the Proactive Wizard
The Proactive wizard enables you to add a URL of the Web page for the Proactive Action being entered under the General tab.
To add a URL using the Proactive wizard, follow these steps:
- Next to URL, click the URL Wizard link. The Proactive wizard appears.
- Choose one of the following actions, and click Next:

Close Window Cleanly |
Closes an application cleanly by providing the process name of the application and the server on which the application is running. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server where the process is running. Process Name. Enter the process name of the application to close. For example: notepad |
Get Process List |
Gets the current process list on a specific server. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server where the processes are running. |
Get Process List Remote |
Gets the current process list on a specific server remotely through WMI. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: WinApp Client Computer Name. Enter the name of the computer running the WinApp Client. Server Name. Enter the name of the server where the processes are running. Credentials. |
Kill Process |
Kills a process by providing the process name of the application and the server on which the application is running. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server where the processes are running. Process Name. Enter the name of the process to kill. Browse Link. Click to select the process you want to kill from a list. For example: ups.exe |
Send Windows Service Request |
Starts, stops, pauses, or resumes a Windows Service. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Specifies the name of the server where the Windows Service is running. Service Name. Enter the name of the Windows Service. Action. Select one of the following service requests:

Reboot Server |
Reboots a server. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server to reboot. |
Run Windows Application Script |
This will run a local WinApp script as a Proactive Action enabling you to start programs, send keys, and so on, on the target server. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server to run the script. ScriptFile Name. Enter the path\name of the WinApp script on the local Reveille Server. Click Browse to locate and select the script. |
Execute Command |
Executes a command such as a DOS command or script and returns the output. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server to run the script. Command. Enter the command to execute. For example: DIR C:\Files. Click Browse to locate and select a command file. |
Start Process |
Starts a process in the foreground by providing the file name of the application and the server on which the application is running. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server where the process is running. Program Name. Enter command line (including parameters) that will run the process. For example: C:\Program Files\App\App.exe Window Style. Select one of the following to indicate the initial visual state of the application's main window:

Start Process as User |
Starts a process in the foreground by providing the file name of the application, the server, and an authorized Windows UserID/Password to start the process. Note: Requires
the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server where the process is running. Process Path and Name. Enter path and name of the process. For example: C:\Program Files\App\App.exe Process Command Line Parameters. (Optional) Enter any command line parameters for the process. Credentials. Select a credential from the list, or click

Start Process Remote |
Starts a process remotely through WMI by providing the file name of the application and the server the application is running on. NOTE: Requires the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: WinApp Client Computer Name. Enter the name of the computer running the WinApp Client. Server Name. Enter the name of the server on which to run this action. Process Path and Name. Enter path and name of the process. Cycle Process As User |
Cycles (Stops then Starts) a process as a specific user by providing the file name of the application and the server the application is running on. NOTE: Requires the WinApp Client on the target server. Complete the following information for this action: Server 1 Name. Enter the name of the first server where the process is running. If it is unable to start the process on Server 1, then it will attempt to start the process on Server 2 (if it is not already running). Server 2 Name. Enter the name of the second server where the process is running. An error is reported if the process fails to start on Server 2. Server 1 Process Path and Name. Enter path and name of the process on server 1. For example: C:\Program Files\App\App.exe. Click Browse to locate and select the file. Server 2 Process Path and Name. Resets a hung batch job on a Captiva server. Complete the following information for this action: Server Name. Enter the name of the server on which to run this action. Captiva Server. Enter the name of the Captiva server. Error Number. Enter the Captiva error number. |
WMI - Cycle Process |
Cycles (Stops then Starts) a process using the process path and name through Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Complete the following information for this action: Server 1 Name. Enter the name of the first server where the process is running. If it is unable to start the process on Server 1, then it will attempt to start the process on Server 2 (if it is not already running). Process Path and Name on Server 1. Enter the application name and installation path on Server 1. For example: C:\Program Files\App\App.exe Server 2 Name. Enter the name of the second server where the process is running. An error is reported if the process fails to start on Server 2. Process Path and Name on Server 2. Enter the application name and installation path on Server 1. For example: C:\Program Files\App\App.exe Credentials. Select a credential from the list, or click

WMI - Cycle Service |
Cycles (Stops then Starts) a Windows Service using the Service Name through Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Complete the following information for this action: Server 1 Name. Enter the name of the first server where the Windows Service is running. If it is unable to start the Windows Service on Server 1, then it will attempt to start the Windows Service on Server 2 (if it is not already running). Service Name on Server 1. Enter the name of the Windows Service on Server 1. Server 2 Name. Enter the name of the second server where the Windows Service is running. Examples: hostname, hostname:22, 10.0.60.10.21. Protocol. Select the Telnet protocol to use to connect to the server: AUTO, SSH2, SSH1, or TELNET. Telnet Columns. Enter the number columns for the Telnet output. Default value is 200. Authenticate using Private Key. (Optional) Enter the name of the file that contains the private key. Click Browse to select a file. Credentials. Select a credential from the list, or click
Process Name. Enter the name of the Unix process. You can use a .NET regular expression. Startup Command. Enter the command used to start the process. Startup Response. (Optional) Enter the expected output of the Startup command. Shutdown Command. Enter the command used to stop the process. Shutdown Response. - Click Finish. The URL generated populates the URL field on the Proactive Properties dialog.
