Configuring Default Proxy Server Settings
A proxy server is a computer on your Local Area Network (LAN) that connects to the Internet without compromising the security of your internal network. Proxy servers are often part of a corporate firewall.
Do not use a proxy server when monitoring web sites or paging employees via HTTP. If the proxy server fails, you will get inaccurate information for your web site.
The default proxy server settings enable you to set a default proxy server for all Monitors. This default can be overridden when you set configuration options for the individual Monitor.
To configure the default proxy server settings:
- From the Left Navigational Pane, select the Local Monitor Server. The Local Monitor Server configuration options are displayed on the Right Configuration Pane.
- Select the Proxy tab.
- Leave all fields blank to connect to the Internet directly or complete the following:
Setting |
Description/Action |
Proxy Server |
Enter the default proxy server address. |
Proxy Overrides |
Enter any exceptions for addresses that do not use the default proxy server. |
Credentials |
Select a system-wide credential. These are defined through the Credentials Manager. You can also click the button next to the field to display the Credentials window and create a new credential definition. To refresh the list, right-click the field and click Refresh. A [None] entry indicates that credentials are not used. |
Note: If you change any of the configuration options, you are asked to Save when you select another component on the Left Navigational Pane.
