Configuring Server Maintenance Options

The maintenance configuration options for the Local Monitor Server enable you to specify:

  • How often the Monitor databases run through a maintenance cycle.
  • Start and stop times for the maintenance cycle.
  • Command or executable files you want to run at the start of a maintenance cycle.
  • How long to keep historical data.

To configure the maintenance options for the Local Monitor Server:

  1. From the Left Navigational Pane, select the Local Monitor Server.  The Local Monitor Server configuration options are displayed on the Right Configuration Pane.
  2. Select the Maintenance tab.
  3. Complete the following:

Description/Action

Maintenance Cycle - Specifies when the Monitor databases are run through the maintenance cycle.

Last Scheduled Maintenance Time

Shows the date and time of the last scheduled Monitor database maintenance cycle.

Run Maintenance Every

Specify the number of hours between maintenance cycle process runs.  

The default is 24 hours. The next maintenance time is calculated from the last scheduled maintenance time, and not the actual time maintenance ran.

Run (button)

Runs the maintenance cycle now.

Maintenance Window - Enables you to set start and stop times for the Monitor database maintenance cycle.

Start Time

Enter the start time for the Monitor database maintenance cycle.  

The default is 12:00:00 AM.

End Time

Enter the end time for the Monitor database maintenance cycle.

The default is 11:59:59 PM.

Maintenance Command - Enables you to enter maintenance commands that can be automatically executed at the start of the maintenance cycle.

Specify the name of a Command file or Executable file that will be executed at the start of the Maintenance Cycle

Enter a command or executable file that runs at the start of the maintenance cycle.  For example:  kill a process, or start a process.  

To select the file from your computer or network, click Browse.

Timeout

Enter the number of minutes before the command file or executable file times out.

Only run the Maintenance Cycle if the Maintenance Command returns the following result

This value is optional. It’s based on the output of the maintenance command you run.  If the value matches text in the output of the maintenance command, then the maintenance is run.

History - Enables you to indicate how long the Server keeps historical data.

Days to keep Response Time Data

Specify the number of days to keep the response time data. The default is 31 days.

Days to keep Logs

Specify the number of days to keep the log data. The default is 62 days.

Days to keep Debug Logs

Specify the number of days to keep the debug log data. The default is 1 days.

Days to keep Report Files

Specify the number of days to keep report files, images, and temporary files used by the Batch Reports Utility. The default is 90 days.

Days to keep Scorecard Data

Specify the number of days to keep the scorecard data. The default is 30 days.

Note:  If you change any of the configuration options, you are asked to Save when you select another component in the Left Navigational Pane.
