System Requirements

Reveille 8 requires the hardware and software listed in the following sections to ensure optimal performance. After installing Reveille, please review the Reveille readme file for additional details.

If you are also installing Reveille 8 User Analytics:

  • In a Test environment:
    Reveille 8 and Reveille 8 User Analytics can be installed on the same server. Likewise, the database for each can be installed on the same database server.
  • In a Production environment:
    For best performance, capacity, and availability, Reveille and Reveille User Analytics should be installed on separate production servers. Reveille databases should be installed as separate databases (SQL Server) or tablespace schemas (Oracle) on a separate production database server(s) or database cluster.

Server Hardware

Reveille 8 can be installed on the server hardware as a single server (no distributed option) or as a remote server (using the distributed option). This section lists requirements for both options.

ClosedSingle server or Remote server in distributed configuration

It is highly recommended that you install Reveille 8 on a dedicated server (physical or virtual) with the following configuration:

  • Microsoft Windows 2008 Server, Windows 2012 Server, or Windows 2016 Server
  • 10GB free disk space (NTFS-formatted)
  • Xeon class processor, 2GHz minimum
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • For virtual machines:
    4 vCPU with 8GB vRAM (full production sizing will vary based on resource requirements)
  • Graphics card capable of 65,536 colors and resolution set greater than 256 colors
  • Network connectivity with a Windows-supported NIC

In addition, if installing a remote server, a SQL Server or Oracle database must be installed and it must match the same database type as installed on the master server.

ClosedMaster server in distributed configuration

It is highly recommended that Reveille be installed on a dedicated server (physical or virtual) with the following configuration:

  • Microsoft Windows 2008 Server, Windows 2012 Server, or Windows 2016 Server
  • 10GB free disk space formatted NTFS on server for normal operation
  • Dual Xeon class processor, 2GHz minimum
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • For virtual machines:
    4 vCPU with 8GB vRAM (full production sizing will vary based on resource requirements)
  • Graphics card capable of 65,536 colors (64KB) and resolution set greater than 256 colors
  • Network connectivity with a Windows-supported NIC

In addition, SQL Server or Oracle must be installed (supported versions listed below) as Relational Database on the master server only.

  • 32-bit Java™ Runtime Environment Version 8 Update 131 or above (optional, needed if using Reveille JMX Proxy Service for JMX Agent support)

  • PowerShell 3.0 or above (optional, if you are using PowerShell testing or actions)

  • If you are using OpenText Captiva Capture, you need one Capture Client, such as Multi, matching the Captiva Capture Server level
  • If you are using OpenText Documentum or IBM Content Manager, contact Reveille Customer Support for specific platform requirements

Database Server Software

Reveille uses a centralized database and is certified for the following databases:

  • MS SQL Server 2012 with SP1 – SP2
  • MS SQL Server 2012 Express Edition with SP1 – SP2 (10GB Database Size limit)
  • MS SQL Server 2014 with SP1
  • MS SQL Server 2014 Express Edition with SP1 (10GB Database Size limit)
  • MS SQL Server 2016 with SP1
  • MS SQL Server 2016 Express Edition with SP1 (10GB Database Size limit)
  • MS SQL Server 2017
  • MS SQL Server 2017 Express Edition (10GB Database Size Limit)
Note Reveille supports these Microsoft ODBC drivers: SQL Server, ODBC 11 Driver for SQL Server, ODBC 13.1 Driver for SQL Server, and ODBC 17 Driver for SQL Server.

  • Oracle 11g R1 (level 11.1.0.6.0 or 11.1.0.7.0)
  • Oracle 11g R2 (level 11.2.0.3 or 11.2.0.4)
  • Oracle 12c R1 (level 12.1.0.1 or 12.1.0.2.0)

  • Oracle 12c R2 (level 12.2.0.1.0)

Oracle database support requires current Oracle 32-bit ODBC Client Drivers on the Reveille Server. If using Oracle 12c, the Oracle client must be at level 12.1.0.2.0.

NoteIf using a 64-bit Operating System, use a 32-bit database client with a 32-bit ODBC driver manager. The 32-bit ODBC manager is located at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe.

Client Software

  • Reveille User Console:
    Internet browser software with a 1024 x 768 minimum display resolution. The minimum browser levels are:
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 11.0 in native mode
    • Microsoft Edge Version 40.15063.674.0
    • Mozilla Firefox Version 50
    • Chrome Version 55
  • Reveille Collector:
    • .NET Framework 4.5.2 for the Windows Collector
    • RedHat Enterprise 64-bit Linux 7, 64-bit JRE Version 8, and Mono 4.4.2 or later for the Linux Collector
    • Optional application specific client (please contact Reveille Customer Support for specific requirements)
  • Reveille Auto Discover:
    • OpenText Captiva Capture support requires a Captiva module, such as Captiva Multi with the version matching the Captiva Capture server level. OpenText Documentum support requires Documentum Foundation Classes (DFC) matching Documentum Content Server level.
  • WinApp Client Hardware/Software:
    • 32/64-bit Windows 10, 32/64-bit Windows 2008 Server, 64-bit Windows 2008 R2, 64-bit Windows 2012 Server, 64-bit Windows 2012 R2, 64-bit Windows 2012 R2, or Windows 2016 Server.
    • Non visual capabilities (such as proactive commands and remote file log search) are available with 32/64-bit Windows 8/8.1, 32/64-bit Windows 10, 32/64-bit Windows 2008 Server or Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2 Server, 32/64 -bit Windows 2008 R2, 64-bit Windows 2012 R2 Server, or Windows 2016 Server.
    • .NET Framework 4.5.2
    • Windows-supported hardware for the selected Windows Operating System and a supported NIC

Environment

A user ID and password with proper access for applications and resources to be monitored and including if necessary a proxy user ID.

  • Access to standard ports (23 for telnet, 22 for SSH, 25 for SMTP, 80 for HTTP, 443 for HTTPS, 143 for IMAP, 162 for SNMP trap). Port access is only required if using a specific protocol to provide notification (e.g. SMTP) or monitoring (e.g. IMAP) support.

Mobile Device Support

  • iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) running iOS 11 or above
  • Android devices running Android 7 or above
