Security Settings
The Security page enables you manage the security settings for Reveille User Analytics.
You can define the following security settings on the Security page:
Administrators have Access. Select if you want administrators to automatically hold all permissions.
Current User or Group. Displays the current user or group for which permissions are defined. Click Select to choose a different user or group.
Permission. Select the check box next to a permission to assign it to the current user or group. The available permissions are:
- Start/Stop Service
- View Applications
- View Application Details Only
- View Reports
- View Administration
- Update Administration
- View Logs
- View Protocols
- View Protocols Details Only
- View Collectors
Selecting a New User or Group
To change the user or group for whom you are defining permissions:
- Click Select. The Select Windows User or Group area apppears.
- Select User or Group. Members of groups inherit the permissions assigned to the group.
- Click Location. The Location dialog appears:
- Select Local Machine, or select Domain and specify a windows domain.
- Select to use Default credentials, or select Use the Following to define new credentials. If specifying a windows domain, use a windows domain account for credentials.
- Click OK.
- Enter an object name. Names are case sensitive. You can use wildcards to search for a name (for example, User*), and click Check Name to locate any matching names.
When setting permissions for a domain user, you must be logged into the Reveille User Analytics server with a domain user account.
When using a domain account to access the User Console, the identity of the Reveille User Analytics Application Pool must be a domain account for Reveille User Analytics to query the domain controller for validating monitor and Reveille User Analytics permissions.
Resetting Permissions
You can reset the permissions for all users and groups back to the default settings by clicking Reset. A confirmation dialog appears. Click OK.
Generating a Security Report
You can generate a report containing user and group permission information.
To generate a report:
- Click Report. The Generate Report dialog appears.
- Select Summary Report or Current User or Group Report.
- Click OK. A message appears asking if you want to open or save the report.
- Click Open to open the report on the Reveille User Analytics machine.
Click Save to save the report to your local machine.
Domain Mapping
You can create mappings between simple domain names and fully qualified domain names. These mappings will be used when selecting users or groups.
To map domains:
- Click Domain Mappings. The Domain Mappings page appears.
- Click Add new row.
- Enter the simple domain name in the From column.
- Enter the fully qualified domain name in the To column.
- Enter the container information in the Container column.
- Click Done.
- Click Save when you have finished all your mappings.
- Click Cancel to return to the Security page.
Domain Groups
You can define domain groups to use when looking up permissions for domain accounts. Adding domain groups forces user permissions to only check the specified Windows groups for group permissions instead of trying to iterate all the Windows groups in the Windows domain. These groups will be used when selecting users or groups.
To define domain groups:
- Click Domain Groups. The Domain Groups page appears.
- Click Add new row.
- Enter the name for the domain group in the Name column. For example: "domain.root.net\GroupName".
- Enter the container information in the Container column.
- Click Done.
- Click Save when you have finished all your mappings.
- Click Cancel to return to the Security page.
