Servers

What does this do?

Servers are computers that run Monitors.  The Local Monitor Server represents the local computer. Worker servers are additional Reveille servers that share a single database. Remote servers run Monitors and report the status back to one or more Master Servers. To keep data current on the Master Server, there are scheduled data synchronizations between Remote Servers and Master Servers.

See Remote/Distributed Servers for more information on Master and Remote Servers.

See About Synchronizations for more information on scheduled data synchronizations.

When would I use this?

Distributed Remote Servers enable the Reveille Server to run in multiple geographic locations, running the same or different sets of Monitors at each location. The Master Server is a full Reveille Server used to view the status and reports for all Monitors from the Remote Servers.

How do I use this?

You will need both the Reveille Admin console and the Reveille Web interface for servers.

  1. Use the Reveille Admin console to configure the local monitor server:
  2. Use the Reveille Admin console to manage a Master Server and synchronize it with Remote Servers:
  3. After your servers are set up and configured, use the Reveille Web interface to manage remote servers:
  4. Use the Reveille Admin console for Starting or Stopping the Local Monitor Service.
